Fine Arts Facts

• Competition is divided into five broad areas: Bible, Music, Speech, Art, and Academic Testing. Each area is subdivided into a wide variety of categories.
• Senior high students who place may be offered the opportunity to compete in the national American Association of Christian Schools Fine Arts Competition.
• All 4th-12th grade students compete in at least one category, and many choose to compete in multiple categories.
• Entry fees and participation fees are included in tuition.
• Parents are welcome to attend competitions. Some competitions may involve a cost for parents.
• The fine arts program gives students opportunities to discover and develop their talents.

Overview of the Year

• Students sign up for competition during the first quarter of the year.
• Final registration is completed in January and February.
• Secondary academic tests are administered in February.
• Some secondary students have preliminaries and Bible Quizzing in February.
• Secondary art entries must be completed early in March.
• Secondary state competition is held on the second Monday and Tuesday in March.
• A secondary Fine Arts Concert is held at the school in March.
• Elementary academic tests are administered in late March.
• Nationals are held at BJU in Greenville, SC, during April.
• Elementary art entries must be completed by mid-April.
• Elementary state competion is held on the last Friday in April.
